The IATI Validator is an online tool for checking if data aligns with the rules and guidance of the IATI Standard. It allows users to check and improve the quality of IATI data to ensure it is accessible and useful to anyone working with data on development and humanitarian resources and results.
The IATI Validator performs checks on IATI data files and returns error and warning messages about how to correct the data. There are three ways to use the IATI Validator.
The Validator displays a message for each occurrence of data that does not comply with the IATI Standard. The message identifies what data needs to be corrected and where it occurs in the data file. A count of errors is also displayed, which shows how many times an error is repeated throughout a file. For example, if all activities in a dataset have omitted activity dates, then the user will see a count of this repeated error, as well as the location of each error.
