All the activity information you can publish

This table lists all the top-level elements you can include in your data. It includes all the mandatory and recommended elements outlined in Key activity information to publish and around 30 further elements you can use to build a comprehensive picture of your organisation’s work.

Our recommended approach is to start with the mandatory and recommended (minimum) elements, and then build up over time. Each element you include will enrich your data and help people to understand the work you do.

Please note each element in the table may contain multiple pieces of data. For example, under Activity Date you specify both the start and end dates for an activity. Links to specific Standard guidance pages have been provided where available.

Additional donor requirements

If you receive funding from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office or the Dutch or Belgian governments you will have additional reporting requirements. For information on these see Donors' reporting requirements.

Building your own system?

The following requirements are built into most publishing systems. Make sure to include them if building your own:

• Activity files must be well-formed XML
• Activity files must validate against the relevant version of the IATI activity schema, test this using the IATI Validator
• Including the @generated-datetime and @last-updated-datetime attributes are highly recommended
