How to register with IATI

Creating a publisher account

Organisations that publish IATI data are referred to as 'publishers'. Before publishing data, organisations need their own publisher account on the IATI Registry.

There are two ways to create this account: either via the IATI Publisher tool, or directly on the IATI Registry.

IATI Publisher

Use IATI Publisher to complete all the steps required to publish your organisation’s data. IATI Publisher will create your organisation’s publisher account on the IATI Registry (so you don’t have to visit the IATI Registry to do this).

IATI Publisher has been built to support the publication of a limited amount of data on an organisation's development and humanitarian activities. An ‘activity’ is an individual project or another unit of development and humanitarian work, which is determined by the organisation that is publishing the data.

Organisations publishing 100+ activities are advised not to use IATI Publisher. Instead these organisations likely need an alternative technical solution that enables the publication of large volumes of data. IATI Registry

Organisations who do not use IATI Publisher can create a publisher account directly on the IATI Registry.

On the IATI Registry page, click the 'Register' button in the blue bar at the top of the screen. This will take you to a page where you will choose the 'New Publisher' option and click the 'Create Publisher Account' button.

Information required to register

For your account to be approved, you must complete all the required fields, such as:

• your IATI organisation identifier
• the type of licence under which you publish your data
• the type of organisation you represent
• the country you are registered in
• a contact email address

In the same form, you can also give other details such as:

• a description of what your organisation does
• a link to your Implementation Schedule
• a description of the organisations or agencies your data covers
• how frequently you will publish to IATI
• the units of aid you use in your reporting

Your organisation will only be publicly listed as a publisher on the IATI Registry after you publish your first dataset. Further guidance can be found at:

Wait for your publisher account to be approved

The IATI Secretariat needs to approve every publisher account. This is to ensure that every organisation publishing to IATI is legally registered and has a unique identifier.

If any required fields are not filled in, or your IATI organisation identifier (also known as your ‘IATI Org ID’) is incorrect, the IATI Secretariat will not be able to approve your account. The team may contact you for information to verify your organisation identifier. This usually happens if the information is not available online.
